Dreaming of the Blue Sky: International Students' Stories at CAFUC

On the campus of the Civil Aviation Flight University of China, the strong atmosphere of aviation can be felt everywhere. MAI HOANG DUC PHUC, an international student from Vietnam, began his study life here. His daily schedule is relatively flexible, but the serious and focused learning environment on campus constantly motivates him. Besides studying, he also spends time experiencing everyday life in China, and this balance between study and life makes his time abroad more fulfilling.

When talking about the biggest difference between studying in China and in Vietnam, DUC PHUC believes that language is the greatest challenge. In Vietnam, daily life was relatively easy, but after coming to China, both classroom learning and everyday communication require Chinese. Although it was difficult at first, this environment helped him grow quickly and become more independent.

Recalling his first days in China, he admitted that not being able to speak Mandarin made it difficult to adapt at the beginning, and the completely unfamiliar language environment brought a strong cultural shock. Fortunately, he received great support from teachers and friends. Both Chinese classmates and other international students helped him gradually adjust to his new life.

DUC PHUC greatly cherishes this study-abroad experience. Here, he has not only learned about Chinese culture but also made friends from all over the world. Exchanges of different cultures and perspectives have broadened his horizons and made him more open-minded and inclusive. In the future, he hopes to return to Vietnam with the knowledge and friendships he gained in China and contribute to the development of civil aviation exchanges between China and Vietnam.
